A TATTIE scone from an Inverness café has been named as the second most popular item ordered through Deliveroo in the city.

The takeaway delivery firm is celebrating its third anniversary in the Highland capital and published the top five most delivered items this week.

Staff at Academy Street’s Red Pepper, which supplies the tattie scones for delivery, were surprised when they heard the news and manager Sarah Robertson said they also had a “bit of a giggle” about it.

She added: “We’ve stuck with tattie scones while a lot of other places got sick of them. I’ve been running the business for 13 years now and times change – it’s easy to order through an app.”

The tattie scone, which is made from mainly wheat flour and potato flakes, is part of the Red Pepper’s all-day breakfast and customers can specify how many they would like as part of the meal.

The other most popular takeaways ordered through Deliveroo included: boneless banquet from KFC, Whopper meal from Burger King, chicken tikka from Shapla and Casareccia pollo piccante from Zizzi.
