Pedestrians are urged to take care when walking in Inverness streets with pavements in some areas of the city still covered in ice.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice for the Highlands and islands which will be in place until noon on Thursday.

Darrel Paterson, who took this photo, slipped in Dunabban Road in Inverness which he said was like an "ice rink" because it had not been treated.

A Highland Council spokeswoman said: “All our available winter maintenance resources are being deployed to treat Highland Council roads and footpaths according to agreed council policies and gritting priority maps.”
