A HOUSEHOLD survey is asking if the A82 trunk road should be re-routed away from the centre of Inverness.

Campaign group the Common Weal is asking home owners to help it develop a plan to make the city more environmentally sustainable.

The survey, A82: A Climate and Health Crisis asks participants 19 questions about the issues facing them as they live side-by-side to the road.

Promoting the survey is Common Weal activist Morgan Cowley. He said: “Bear Scotland has a plan to improve things for pedestrians and cyclists on the A82, except we don’t think it will.

“We think the needs of the motor car will still come first despite the claim of Transport Scotland that active travel now should. There are lots of issues that people tell us about and we wanted to do a survey to understand what people are thinking.

“The survey has been posted through every door at the side of the A82 and we hope that people will answer the questions and send the surveys back to us.”

Mr Cowley said the survey was part of an ongoing drive by the group in seeking a better Inverness.

He said: “We want a city of social and economic equality and environmental sustainability.

“By working cooperatively we look toward having widespread democratic participation and a vibrant community and culture.”

The survey can be returned to Yess, Common Weal, Impact Hub, 67a Castle Street, Inverness, IV2 3DU.
