An Inverness supermarket is urging people wanting to help the situation in Ukraine to make cash donations rather than giving items.

In a Facebook post Morrisons Inverness Community Champions has updated followers and issued the advice.

A spokesman said: "We have this afternoon had communications from aid agencies to inform everyone that, due to the high volumes of donations being received, they are encouraging folk to provide monetary donations instead of items so as to prevent urgent aid supplies being held up in transport.

"We are able to assist with this by having our donation buckets at the checkouts and the ability to add donations to shopping bills before paying at the checkout should you wish to.

"The boxes on the left are what has been donated so far by all our very generous customers, the boxes on the right are what we as a community team have purchased these items include pants, socks and children's jackets.

"Massive massive thank you to you all, we are continuing to collect donations for Ukraine, alongside our local foodbank donations."
