A GRIEVING family have been inundated with calls offering praise and encouragement after the Inverness Courier revealed their plan to set up a support club for people affected by suicide.

The Mullerys are making final arrangements for the first city centre meeting of James’s Support Group following the shock death of their son James, who took his own life in October.

The 28-year-old father-of-three had anxiety and depression.

His parents Wendy and Patrick, of Bayview Crescent, Cromarty, together with James’s partner Jodie, want to help others who have lost loved-ones in the same tragic way.

Jodie, (28), of Mackenzie Place, Avoch, was heartened by the number of people who made contact with her, including a child psychologist.

She said James’s death had a massive impact on the youngsters.

Their six-year-old’s birthday was "a very difficult day" for the family.

She said: "He cried a lot saying ‘daddy missed my birthday’. I’m comforting him but the only thing he wants me to do it bring James back."

Some people have objected to Jodie being so open about James’s death.

"They’ve said ‘why are you wanting to put your business out there?’.

"But I’ve pointed out this is not just about my life, this is probably going to happen to another family today, tomorrow. It’s not going to go away if everybody sticks their head in the sand."

The group will meet at the Spectrum Centre on Saturday (April 14) from 11am to 1pm.
