An Inverness firm of solicitors has donated almost £8000 to a mental health charity based in the city.

Staff and directors at Digby Brown Solicitors raised £7901 through a number of activities.

The money was presented to Mikeysline and The Hive Project which provides mental health support from its base in Academy Street.

In a Facebook post a spokesman for the charity said: "A massive heartfelt thank you to staff and directors at Digby Brown Solicitors for their £7901 donation.

"We understand that the staff had a lot of fun raising half of the cash by holding race nights, dress down Fridays and taking part in the Beast Race, and the other half was matched by the directors. We cannot thank you enough for all of your efforts.

"All donations, big or small, are always gratefully received, but at a time when it is impossible to hold fundraising events, then every penny counts if we are to continue offering our services to those who need us."

The text service run by Mikeysline is contnuing to operate but the drop-in Hive Centre has been closed due to coronavirus lockdown measures.
