Sue Stockdale became the first British woman to ski to the Magnetic North Pole, in 1996.

Following this success, she made it her life’s purpose to inspire others to be more adventurous, with the mantra “We are all capable of more than we believe is possible, but often the only person stopping you is you”.

Having travelled to over 70 countries, including expeditions to Greenland, Antarctica and Chile, she recounts some of the highlights and challenges and reflect on why being adventurous is about mindset as it is about action.

Sue commented “I’m excited to share stories about some of the fascinating places I’ve travelled to, and to inspire people to become more adventurous. It’s a mindset that helps us value the diversity of peoples, cultures and environment around us.”

RSGS chief executive Mike Robinson commented: “We are really looking forward to hosting Sue for the Inspiring People talks programme.

"Sue has travelled across the globe and has undertaken many amazing and inventive expeditions, so it will be great to hear her unique perspectives on adventure and undoubtedly a fair share of anecdotes too.”

RSGS Inspiring People talks are open to all: tickets for face-to-face talks are free for RSGS members, students and under-18s and £10 for general admission. Tickets are available to book online in advance at rsgs.org/events, and some may also be available at the door for cash only.

Sue’s talk begins at 7.30pm on Monday, March 13 at Craigmonie Hotel, 9 Annfield Road, Inverness, IV2 3HX.
