'Successful year in financial terms' at Eden Court in Inverness

PRE-tax profit increased by more than £80,000 at Eden Court Trading last year.

Turnover also rose for the firm, whose principal activities were the running of the catering facilities at Eden Court theatre and cinema in Inverness. This includes the sales of confectionery and artworks to visitors and the hosting of meetings, conferences and other events in the complex.

A directors’ report accompanying the latest accounts – for the year ended March 31, 2017 – stated: “The company trades in order to provide financial support towards the charitable objectives of Eden Court Highlands, its parent company, and a registered charity.

“The profit for the period has been gifted to Eden Court Highlands under the Gift Aid provisions.”

Pre-tax profit went up to £272,027 last year, from £189,072 for the previous 12 months.

For the same period, turnover moved from £1,355,062 in 2016 to £1,433,908 last year.

Separate financial statements for Eden Court Highlands over the same time frame showed total funds on March 31, 2017 were £13,974,112. This was down from £15,562,061 on the same date in 2016. For this period, total income and total expenditure increased.

The trustees’ annual report, accompanying the figures, stated: “An unexpectedly large cut in the grant we receive from Highland Council for 2016

“As 2016/17 has been a very successful year in financial terms, we now plan to reverse both these trends for 2017/18 by returning to a producing role and by presenting more Scottish touring drama and dance.”
