Highland Hospice supporter Alison McRitchie is organising a very special event in Inverness next year to benefit the charity.

Catwalk for a Cause will be held at the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday, February 11, sponsored by MKM Building Supplies.

The event will feature a host of brave individuals whose lives have been affected by cancer, taking to the catwalk modelling clothes from Highland Hospice’s charity shops and telling their own individual stories.

Lined up as special guests are Steve Bland and Lauren Mahon – from the award-winning podcast You, Me and the Big C – who will pay tribute to the late Dame Deborah James (aka Bowelbabe).

Alison, who is well-known locally as director of The Head Gardener salon in Inverness, said: “Like so many others, my heart was touched by Dame Deborah James and her mission to break down the taboos around bowel cancer. She was an icon who had all the qualities that this event is celebrating.

“Dame Deborah was so brave and personable and her story inspired me to do something here in the Highlands. I am delighted that Steve and Lauren will join us for the event.

“As Highland Hospice provided end-of-life care for both my dad and my sister it is a cause very close to my heart.

“All proceeds from this event will be split between the hospice and a cancer charity of Steve and Lauren’s choice.”

Highland Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol said: “We are so incredibly grateful to have Alison’s support through this incredible event. She has raised a phenomenal amount for Highland Hospice over the years, as well as raising awareness in the community about the work we do.

“Her last event, Highland Hearts of Gold, held in 2020, raised an incredible £78,000, and we know she will make Catwalk for a Cause a huge success.”

• Tickets cost £55 which includes fizz on arrival, canapés and a light supper. For tickets contact e.nicol@highlandhospice.org.uk
