A WEEKEND of fundraising festivities lies ahead as Strictly Inverness contestants gear up for this year’s event in aid of Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.

Tomorrow, a ladies’ afternoon tea will be held at the Kirkhill Church of Scotland to support the participation of minister Drew Kuzma.

Team Friday member Drew (48) will be on hand to serve teas at the event, and will be ably assisted by his team of “mysterious men”.

Tickets for the afternoon, which will run from 2pm to 4pm, can be purchased from Margie on 07776 481812 or Suzi on 07813 890981.

In the evening, people are being invited to boogie the night away with a 1980s disco-themed night at Raigmore Hospital Recreation Hall.

The event is raising funds to support the participation of infection control nurse Ann Chalmers (59) from Culloden Moor, also a member of the competition’s Team Friday group.

The “bring your own bottle” night promises to be a fun one – with a range of raffle prizes on offer, a whisky bottle coin roll planned and music throughout the evening from DJ Dickie.

Tickets are priced at £10 and can be bought by emailing Ann on chalmersa59@aol.com

Strictly Inverness will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 18 and 19, when eight local couples will perform two dances, along with their spectacular group dance, to compete for a place in the Saturday night grand finale.
