Strictly Inverness charity dancer’s Easter fun day nets £1400 windfall
A delighted Strictly Inverness dancer and her daughter have helped to raise a whopping £1400 for charity thanks to her latest fundraiser - an Easter fun day.
Jacqui Crawford’s event, at Drakies Hall on Easter Sunday, attracted a large turnout, with people enjoying a host of activities and attractions - from an array of inflatable bouncy castle fun in the sunshine outdoors, to a range of stalls and tasty goodies inside the hall itself.
The day raised £1419 towards the Highland Hospice and the Inverness Ice Centre.

And Jacqui said she was “utterly overwhelmed” by the level of support shown.
She said: “I am utterly overwhelmed that the final total is a whopping £1419. Once again thank you to all businesses who took part, all of the wonderful helpers and of course to each and every one of you who came to the day. But biggest thanks go to my daughter Jenna Dalgetty who organised the whole day.
“Thank you to Craig at ‘I do photography’ for his fab pictures”.
Jacqui, from Daviot, is one of the dancing hopefuls looking to raise funds for the hospice at this year’s Strictly Inverness.
The 60-year-old said she always wanted to learn to dance and decided that the charity fundraiser was “the time to step out of my comfort zone and do it”.
She was motivated to take part thanks to the support the hospice offered to friends and family, after a friend of hers passed away in the hospice and an aunt received end-of-life care.
Speaking to the Inverness Courier earlier this year she said: “The care they received was incredible and both died with great care and dignity.” She added that her mum and husband had also both recovered from cancer in the past five years and Jacqui said their experiences meant she knew how difficult it is for families to live with a cancer diagnosis.
"I would like to give something back by raising money for a local cancer charity,” she explained, adding: "My daughter’s best friend's son has played ice hockey at the ice rink for the past eight years and I see the enjoyment he gets from this, so it’s nice to also help the ice rink."
Meanwhile, her fundraising continues apace. As well as the family fun day on Easter Sunday, other recent fundraisers included a ceilidh at Drakies Hall on March 23 and a pool competition in 147 in Inverness which helped to generate £400.
Next up is a disco at Fairways on April 12.
