The Highland Gathering scheduled for Stratherrick this Saturday has been cancelled.

Organisers Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust decided the event would not go ahead this year after the sudden death was announced of Kevin Johnston, farm manager at Garthbeg, Gorthleck, whilst shepherding.

A Trust spokesperson said: "Out of respect to the Johnston family and all at Corriegarth Estate at this very difficult time, the decision has been taken not to hold the Highland Gathering on Saturday, July 22.

"Sympathies are extended to his family and friends throughout Stratherrick and beyond.

"Thank you for your understanding."
