A leading figure in the community of Stratherrick and Foyers has been appointed as chairwoman of the local community trust.

Catriona Fraser, from Gorthleck, was chairwoman of the local community council for five years and has a wide circle of business and community contacts.

She said: “I am pleased that the elected directors of SFCT (Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust) have placed their confidence in me. There is so much human potential here in Foyers and Stratherrick.

“Using our financial resources to make the greatest impact is our challenge as a trust board.

“This community has recently completed a process resulting in both a community development plan and place plan which will guide what the trust will achieve in the coming years.

“We are a nimble local organisation, able to make decisions and implement them without much bureaucracy.”

Catriona added: ‘The trust is all about making Stratherrick and Foyers the best place it can be for all its residents.

“Some initiatives can be undertaken quickly and others take time, but we have a strong team always ready to put their shoulder to the wheel.

“The financial investments in community projects which we are making now, using funds from SSE and Greencoat, are making a big difference to the lives of our rural population. However, I also recognise the importance of future generations which is why the trust invests 25 per cent of the received monies into our Legacy Fund to ensure our community is financially viable in the years to come.”

Chief executive Tony Foster said: “Catriona is a practical and long-sighted leader for the trust and well-known to almost everyone in Stratherrick and Foyers.

“The AGM meeting on November 29, 2023 was held in the Wildside Centre and the outgoing chair, Gareth Jones, was thanked for his stint in charge of the board.”
