Met Office issues yellow weather warning for stormy winds in many parts of the Highlands; warning area affects, Inverness, Nairn, the Great Glen, the Black Isle, Ross-shire, Sutherland and the Hebrides
A YELLOW weather warning for storm force winds has been issued for many parts of the Highlands.
The Met Office warning, which comes into force at 5am tomorrow and runs until 9pm the same day, covers Inverness, the Great Glen, the Black Isle and Nairn, among others.
Issuing its warning, the Met Office has warned that “some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely” and that that bus and train services may also be affected.
“It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities [will be] affected by spray and/or large waves,” said a spokesman.
“Some short term loss of power and other services is possible”.
And they warned drivers of high-sided vehicles that delays are likely on some bridges and exposed routes.
