Storm Gerrit has also hit some flights from Inverness.

Loganair's 9am flight (LM151) to Stornoway was cancelled, and all flights to/from Kirkwall in Orkney and Sumburgh, Shetland, were being reassessed after 12pm today.

Loganair said: "Given the yellow weather warning forecast for Wednesday, 27th December, which has now been upgraded to a storm category and the potential for travel disruption, we offer customers the opportunity to adjust travel plans without charge.

"We plan to fly all our scheduled services where conditions permit a safe operation. We have standby aircraft and crews in place to help recover any disrupted services as soon as reasonably possible once weather conditions permit."

The airline tells customers the easiest way to change their flight is via Manage My Booking on the Loganair website.

If a suitable alternative cannot be found there, you can reach their Help Centre on 0344 800 2855.
