THE inimitable Stoltman brothers are getting ready to weigh into history with a win at the annual Britain’s Strongest Man competition.

The powerhouse team of Tom (25) and Luke (35) will go head-to-head tomorrow at Giants Live in Sheffield in a bid to lift the title.

It comes after the Highlanders gained huge exposure when last year’s World’s Strongest Man event was shown on Channel 5 over the festive period. They made history by becoming the first brothers to reach the final of the event when they each qualified through heats for the first time.

Tom won one of the events in the final and came fifth overall, while Luke finished seventh.

Twelve men will compete at Britain’s Strongest Man, with reigning champion Graham Hicks deciding not to defend his title.

Tom said: “My biggest competition at Britain’s Strongest Man is 100 per cent my brother Luke. This year I want to win strongman competitions and break records in the events I compete in, and I really want to get onto the podium at World’s Strongest Man.”

Their training regime has been progressively tougher, he added.

“We have been training with Eddie Hall, a former professional strongman and World Strongest Man winner in 2017.

“It will help us big time. We are getting tips and seeing how much he dedicated himself to the sport shows what we have to do to take home the title.”

Luke, who still works full-time, said he is hoping to dedicate more time to the sport, he said: “During 2020 I will be trying to do more because I currently work six-days-a-week 7am-5pm, and then train in the evenings. Also, another big challenge is pushing on in the world competitions.”

He added: “Everyone is capable of winning Britain’s Strongest Man this year.”
