Plans for a new Inverness eatery at a former corner shop have moved a step forward.

Listed building consent to alter the ground floor portion of a Grant Street property – which includes the former Nicol's store – has been granted by Highland Council officials.

The change would see the former retail premises become a café/bistro. The application also includes the upgrading of the existing residential first and second floors.

Supporting information supplied by WA MacDonlad (Building Design) for Dr W Khan states: "We propose to form a cafe/bistro on the ground floor with limited cooking and baking facilities in the existing basement floor.

"The conditions in the first and second residential floors are poor with only one bathroom serving eight rooms."

It added that the property was built around 1821-1850.
