People in Inverness are being encouraged to sponsor a Christmas light to help raise cash for Highland Hospice.

The initiative was highlighted by Inverness BID by sharing this photo via social media.

A spokesman said: "The Falcon Square Christmas tree looks beautiful all lit up tonight.

"As part of the Highland Hospice Light up the Highlands annual Christmas appeal you can sponsor a light on the tree to celebrate someone’s life."

A hospice spokesman said: "For many people Christmas can be a time when feelings of loss and loneliness are heightened. Here at Highland Hospice, we want to help people through these challenges.

"Whether they are being supported at home, grieving a recent death or being cared for in our Inpatient Unit, we want to help bring light to their darkness. Please help us Light up the Highlands this Christmas."
