The team at the Spectrum Centre in Inverness have thanked the public for donated DVDs following an appeal on social media.

The move was prompted by an ambition to help people over the coming months.

A spokesman for the venue stated: "Here at the Spectrum Centre we are looking at ways to help the community over the winter months.

"We’re planning to use our theatre on days when not in use to show films with everybody welcome to attend free of charge. So if anyone has any DVDs they no longer use then please drop them in, they'll be gratefully received."

It plans to start showing films from November 25 with Casablanca, Lego Movie and Greatest Showman lined up – however this is still to be confirmed.

A further social media statement reads: Thanks to everyone who shared our post and for the DVDs we've had so far."
