Special screening of Sir David Attenborough's 'Saving Our Wild Isles' in Highlands
Cairngorms Connect is hosting a special free screening of the BBC's 'Saving Our Wild Isles' to celebrate ecological restoration in the Cairngorms on the big screen.
The event will take place this Saturday (April 15) at the Boat of Garten Community Hall
From 6pm, attendees can enjoy a delicious complimentary meal featuring Cairngorms Connect venison – there are vegan options available – before watching an extra special episode together of the Sir David Attenborough series.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion and audience Q&A featuring Laura Howard, a producer from Silverback Films who worked on the ‘Wild Isles’ and ‘Saving our Wild Isles’ TV programmes, and Cairngorms Connect contributors Ellie Dimambro-Denson, Cairngorms Connect monitoring officer, and Ronan Dugan, Wildland conservation assistant.
A Cairngorms Connect spokesperson said: "The evening will shine a light on the ecological restoration work being done locally including monitoring ecological indicators such as moths, restoring the montane willow population, and research into raptors."
The event is free to attend but registration is required.
There is also the option to reserve a spot on a minibus from Grantown, Aviemore, Carrbridge, and Kingussie when booking.
Cairngorms Connect is a partnership of neighbouring land managers – Wildland Limited, Forestry and Land Scotland, RSPB Scotland and NatureScot – working towards a 200-year vision to
enhance habitat, species and ecological process across a vast 600 square kilometre area within the strath.
Howard is a producer and director with Silverback Films, previously with the BBC’s Natural History Unit, with credits including Springwatch, Blue Planet 2 and has worked across various conservation campaigns.
She volunteered with her partner Chris at Loch Garten in the summer of 2019.
