A runner has raised more then £1700 after completing a marathon on Christmas Eve.

Kieran Fraser (21) ran for health charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland after his dad suffered a major stroke last year.

Before his illness, dad Neil Fraser and Kieran had planned to run a marathon together.

Kieran, from Culloden, said: “My dad got home before Christmas which we are all delighted about.

“He’s glad to be home but there’s still a long way to go until he is fully recovered of course.”

Saying “this one is for you dad”, Kieran explained that during the Covid restrictions he was unable to see his dad, and running a Christmas Eve marathon was his way of saying thank you.

He said: “Not being able to visit was difficult for me and I felt very helpless not being there for him. But I never forgot about our plans to one day run a marathon, so I decided that it was something I could do to help not only him, but many other families who have been going through the same as me.”
