Businesses have shown their support for the inaugural free Get Set For Summer family fun day.

The event, organised by High Life Highland and LCC Live, takes place this Saturday from 11am-5pm at Northern Meeting Park.

Inverness BID assisted in reaching out for support from local firms.

Toy store Smyths was among those keen to get involved and donated some outdoor toys.

Store manager Barry Martin said: “As soon as we heard about the Get Set For Summer event from Inverness BID, it was an obvious decision to show our support by donating a range of our toys for visitors to enjoy on the day.

“We are delighted to be supporting what will no doubt be a fun day in the sun and look forward to seeing local families and children having a blast with the array of toys on show.”

The items will be part of an ‘Active Schools’ area hosted by High Life Highland’s Young Leaders.

Another local contributor is Azets, an accountancy and business advisory service based in Inverness, with sponsorship. Partner Mhairi Callander said: “This event links closely with our purpose at Azets, to improve the lives of our colleagues, clients and communities in a sustainable way, and we are delighted to be able to support such a wonderful community event and I look forward to attending.”

Margaret Laws, Inverness BID’s admin and marketing manager, said: “It never ceases to amaze me how community-minded and generous our fantastic city centre businesses are."

LCC Live’s managing director Les Kidger said: “We’ve been blown away by the generosity of so many local businesses in the area who have contributed to bringing Get Set for Summer to life.

“A huge thanks goes out all contributors for their support.”

High Life Highland’s chief executive Steve Walsh said: “The idea behind Get Set for Summer has always been to give back to the community by promoting the many groups, businesses and organisations operating across Inverness. So we are extremely grateful to everyone giving their direct support towards making the event happen.

“Equally inspiring is seeing High Life Highland’s Young Leaders come forward to volunteer on the day and help with the ‘Active Schools’ area. We couldn’t have brought this event together without the local support we have received.”
