Food nights at Smithton Church aid the Blythswood Ukraine appeal and have raised around £300

A series of food nights in Smithton has raised around £300 for the Blythswood Ukraine appeal.

The events were organised by members of Smithton Church and take place in the church’s car park every Thursday between 5pm and 7pm.

So far there have been barbecues offering food such as burgers and hot dogs to members of the public with a suggested donation of £1 for four items.

Church minister Alasdair Macleod said the Community Food Nights did exactly what it said on the tin.

“It is an opportunity for the community to come together around food,” he added.

“Each week so far it has been a barbecue, although going forward the menu might change, and depending on the weather, we might need to move indoors at some point.”
