The Highland Folk Museum reopens for another season this weekend with a small charge coming in for parking.

The doors at the popular Newtonmore attraction swing open on Saturday and the team is looking forward to welcoming visitors again for the forthcoming season.

Entry remains by donation.

Visitors get the chance to step back in time and experience life in the Highlands from 1700s to the 1950s at the site.

A spokesperson for operators High Life Highland said: "There are over 35 buildings to explore and discover how people in the Highlands lived, worked, went to school and enjoyed their leisure time.

"To help lessen the impact of increases to the cost of operating the museum, a charge for parking at the museum has been introduced with effect from Saturday.

"All of the income generated from parking will go towards the running and development of the museum.

"The parking charge will be a flat day-rate for stays of up to a maximum of seven hours, payable by card or coins, and will be charged at £2 per car; £4 for motorhomes and minibuses; and £9

per coach."

The museum is open every day from 1 April to 29 October this year.

Hours are 10am to 5pm from April to August, and 10.30am to 4pm during September and October.
