If you hear bells ringing this weekend, it is not Santa coming early – but it could well be the Kidical Mass cyclists who are planning a special festive ride on Saturday.

The campaigners say what they really want for Christmas is “a safe place for kids to cycle and a lungful of clean air”.

The Kidical Masss ride, part of a worldwide movement aiming to highlight the need for cycling to be accessible for all, starts at Bellfield Park at 1.30pm and follows a route through the centre of Inverness and through Ballifeary to finish at the archive centre.

There will be games and fun activities at the end, including giant bubbles, novelty bikes, the popular smoothie bike and a pre-loved Secret Santa swap.

A spokesperson said: “Please join us and show children how fun cycling can be when you are all together, and show Inverness that lots of children on bikes is a joy to behold.”
