A Highland charity working to reduce loneliness has been given a boost.

Befrienders Highland has been presented with a cheque for £1800 from the proceeds of a carolthon held in the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness just before Christmas.

Singers performed for six hours to generate cash.

Susan White, executive director of Befrienders Highland, said: “There is currently a lot of publicity and news about loneliness and isolation, and the impact that these can have on people with experience of mental ill health, those who provide unpaid caring roles, and people who have memory loss.

“Befrienders Highland is a local charity which works across the Highland region, using the power of friendship to support people with mental illness towards recovery.”
