An Inverness singer-songwriter has lined up a string of Highland gigs over the next few months.

Katie Gregson-MacLeod (20) is currently studying history in Edinburgh but grew up in the Highland capital and released her debut EP earlier this year.

She is due to play at Woodzstock on August 28, at Wildwood on the Black Isle, and will also take part in Capers in Cannich on the weekend of September 13-15.

Later on in the year she will also play a headline gig at Mad Hatters in Inverness, on November 12.

Miss Gregson-MacLeod said she was looking forward to returning to the Highland.

"I can’t wait," she said.

"It’s definitely nerve-wracking given it’s been a year and a half since my last live show but I am so excited to play all this new material with my live band.

"I also love playing Inverness because the crowd is so supportive, given this is my home."

Games I Play, her debut EP which is still available via various sources, has a total of five tracks which were written throughout the lockdown.

She said: "I’d been writing all the songs throughout 2020, but was never really planning on forming them into one body of work.

"It wasn’t until I finished the title track and started producing the other songs when I realised they created this strong storyline and have a good level of sonic cohesion.

"I was producing versions of the songs for the second half of the year and ended up finishing the recording and mixing process with my super-talented friend Toby, who was the producer of the EP.

"All in all, it feels like a lifetime ago that I started writing this body of work but that can probably be attributed to lockdown."

Having said that, Miss Gregson-MacLeod is already looking ahead to the future.

She said: "Right now, my main goal is to go back to writing and producing as much as I can.

"I’m still working on promotion and everything for the EP but I miss being in a super creative space, so I just want to retreat for a while into that headspace.

"I also plan on rehearsing and playing live with my live band as much as possible, getting us ready for the big gigs we have coming up.

"Regarding future releases I have no solid plans but I am writing a lot right now and can see directions appearing."
