Shutters down at Eastgate Centre Superdry store in Inverness as malfunction puts paid to weekend trade

BROWSERS heading for some retail therapy at a popular store inside the Highlands' biggest shopping centre have been out of luck this weekend.

Shoppers turning up at Superdry's upper level outlet in the Eastgate Centre have come face to face not with the usual alluring array of trendy clobber and contemporary music but a closed shutter.

The clothing chain that prides itself on "timeless quality and contemporary design" has been forced to turn away customers this weekend because of a technical malfunction.

A sign on its shutter states: "Unfortunately we are closed for the weekend.

"Our shutter has broken and so we are unable to open the store, but we are hoping to be back up and running by Monday afternoon.

"Sorry for any inconvenience!"

Its designs typically combine vintage American styling with Japanese-inspired graphics. Its first store was opened in Covent Garden in London in 2004 and it now has branches around the world.

Ironically the Highland capital is experiencing a busy weekend courtesy of the additional thousands of people taking part in the Loch Ness Marathon and associated 10K and 5K runs.
