A 27-year-old Inverness man described by his lawyer as “a poor soul” has had sentence deferred for a social work background report.

George Wright, of Church Street, Inverness, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted maliciously damaging the door of the Boots shop in Beauly on July 26, 2019.

He also admitted failing to appear for a court hearing on March 10, 2020.

Defence solicitor John MacColl said his client was “awaiting a psychiatric assessment” and he had other matters calling on October 28.

Sheriff Robert Macdonald, however, called for the fresh report and ordered Wright to appear on September 2.
