The Shirlie Project, an organisation that has provided support services to young people and others in the Inverness area for more than 20 years, has been placed into liquidation.

Insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor was consulted last week to consider the company’s rescue options and to offer support.

The Shirlie Project aimed to help people gain employment.

A spokesman for Begbies Traynor said: "Unfortunately, due to immediate cash-flow issues and the overall funding outlook, the decision was taken by the directors to cease trading."

Kenneth Pattullo and Kenneth Craig from Begbies Traynor have been appointed as provisional liquidators by Inverness Sheriff Court. They will be working with the management team and all relevant organisations to ensure that the Shirlie Project’s staff and the clients are supported throughout the process.

A spokesman for the Shirlie Project said: "All at the Shirlie Project wish to thank their many funders, suppliers and employers for their engagement and support over the years. We wish all our clients and trainees the best for the future."
