Nominations for the 2022 Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) City Centre Awards open today.

Here is your chance to say a very big thank you to your favourite city centre shops, pubs, restaurants and service providers.

Nominations should be returned before the cut-off date of September 2.

The nominations will create a final shortlist in each of the 13 categories, with the public having the chance to then vote on their favourites from Friday, September 16.

These business awards were launched in 2017 and when last held in 2019 they attracted an amazing 38,000 votes from the public.

Due to the Covid pandemic this is the first time that they have run since.

BID director Lorraine Bremner McBride said: “The city centre business awards have been both welcomed by the businesses and embraced by the public.

“The awards clearly demonstrate the interest the public has in the businesses and services that operate from the city centre, and they appreciate the mix of businesses we have, both nationals and independents given it’s the independents that provide the point of difference, but the strength of our offering is in having the two co-existing together.

Before Covid hit the BID Awards had become an important part of the city centre timetable and it’s something we are delighted to see returning as it gives a chance to celebrate and give recognition in respect of what is happening in the city centre.”

Steve Barron, publishing director of Highland News and Media (HNM), said the Inverness Courier was “absolutely delighted” to be involved in the BID awards once again.

“The Courier itself is at the heart of city life, with all its challenges and opportunities, and we are excited to see our brilliant business community celebrated and thanked for the role it plays in making Inverness the great place it is,” he said.

“Everyone who has a favourite business must vote for it, to shine a light on those who go the extra mile and who help to make sure Inverness city centre thrives.”

Nominations can be completed online here or can be posted in the Victorian Market and Eastgate Shopping Centre post boxes.

Or they can be sent to: Inverness City Centre BID Business Awards, c/o Inverness Courier, Suite 3.04 Moray House, 16-18 Bank Street, Inverness, IV1 1QY.

The shortlist will be unveiled on Friday,September 16, when voting opens.

The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 1.
