Sheriff tells Inverness drug-driver: 'Your wife will not be happy with you'

Police who conducted a routine check on an Inverness motorist detected a strong smell of cannabis from his car.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 30-year-old James Pearce, of Esk Road, tested positive for the drug and a subsequent blood test revealed he had 7mcgs of cannabis in his system on January 17, 2023. The legal driving limit is 2mcgs.

He admitted drug-driving in Anderson Street and was fined £420. He was also banned from driving for a year.

Sheriff Macdonald said: "Your wife will not be happy with you."

Pearce, who represented himself, replied: "Not at all."
