A convicted sex offender has appeared in court again after failing to tell police that he had bought a smart TV.

Jason Davidson (24) was made subject to the sexual offences notification requirements following a conviction in February 2018.

He was told to tell police if he had any internet-enabled devices due to having previously contacted under-age girls through social media and in person.

Davidson, formerly of Nairn but now of Waterloo Place, Inverness, had also sent sexual messages to young girls between September 17, 2015 and May 1, 2016.

However when police turned up unannounced on June 16 last year to check he was abiding by the conditions of his order he was found to have used a benefits backlog to buy himself a smart TV which was actively connected to the internet.

The police had not been made aware that the device had come into his possession, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.
