THE A82 is closed following a "serious" crash between Inverness and Drumnadrochit, Traffic Scotland has confirmed.

The closure has also prompted a Police Scotland warning to motorists that the route is likely to remain shut "for some time".

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The A82 is closed in both directions between the Tomnahurich Swing Bridge in Inverness and Drumnadrochit at the junction with A831 due to a road crash.

"There is a diversion in operation via A831/A833-Cannich to Beauly Road on the south side and General Booth Road A862/A833 to the north.
