The search is on in the Highlands for two, four-legged, furry superstars to join the cast of Legally Blonde – the Musical.

It will be Inverness Musical Theatre’s (IMT) first post-pandemic production – their last show, Hello Dolly, was cancelled the week before the national lockdown.

Auditions were held recently and Natalie Sutherland was cast in the lead role of Elle Woods, with Caroline MacPherson taking on the role of her friend Paulette.

Now IMT is auditioning dogs for the high profile parts of Elle’s chihuahua Bruiser and Paulette’s bulldog Rufus.

Ms Sutherland, who works at Eden Court Theatre, said: ‘I am absolutely honoured to be playing Elle Woods; it is a privilege to work with such an outstanding cast, production team and committee – we have so much fun.”

Anyone who thinks their pet pooch has what it takes to tread the boards at Eden Court Theatre from March 30 to April 2 next year should email invernessopera@gmail.com with “dog auditions” in the subject title.

The email should include your full name, address and contact number — as well as a photo of your dog, along with their name, breed and a brief description.
