A Scottish architecture firm has relocated its Highland office to have a central hub and create a better co-working environment. LDN Architects recently moved from its branch in Forres to set up a permanent home in a building it designed - The Treehouse on Carsegate Road, Inverness.

The business is the first to assume residence in the modern building delivered by Scottish Canals; for LDN Architects, it is a ‘serendipitous’ move.

Speaking more about the relocation, LDN partner, Stuart MacKellar said: “For over 30 years, we were based in a beautiful older building in Forres but the lease was ending. We were the architects for The Treehouse and the offices were being let there at the same time, so we decided to make the move.

“It has all worked out and the timing was serendipitous to allow us to move into the building that we designed.”

With 14 staff based out of the Inverness office, The Treehouse gives LDN more space and flexibility for collaborative working, and to be able to creatively work together in a studio environment.

“This has been a good move for us, and we are reaping so many benefits already,” said Stuart.

“The whole place is so much more conducive for collaborative working, and we are also right on the canal, so we can get out for walks as a team too, which is so important for team building and being able to spend some healthy downtime together.”

Being in The Treehouse is not only good for the team but it also represents the ethos of LDN Architects: sustainability complemented by creative design.

Stuart commented: “This building is so much more representative of our values as a business. It encompasses sustainability and contemporary design, and it captures our identity, which is so important to us given what we do.

“The timber made building is also highly thermally insulated, is heated by renewable energy and is connected to nature, so it truly captures the essence of LDN Architects.”

LDN Architects work throughout the UK on commissions of all scales, delivering projects that meet the aspirations of each client and buildings that enhance the lives of those who use them.
