A 21-year-old Inverness man threatened to kill a woman when he caused a disturbance at her house.

Jack Horne, of Gilbert Court, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear and alarm on March 24, 2023 in Gilbert Street.

Sentence had been deferred for a background report and when Horne re-appeared to be dealt with by Sheriff Sara Matheson, she followed the recommendation of the social workers.

Horne was placed on a structured deferred sentence until July 19 for social workers to work with him intensively.

The court heard he banged on her door, tried to get in by putting his hand through the letter box and shouted: "I am going to kill you."

Sheriff Matheson also imposed an 18-month long non-harassment order to protect the woman.
