A city hairdressing salon is celebrating after being found to be a cut above the competition at a Scotland-wide awards event.

Tony Christopher Hair Salon, in Castle Street, Inverness, was named north-west hair salon of the year at the 10th Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards, held at The Double Tree by Hilton in Glasgow.

Salon founder Tony Christopher Pollock was also recognised by the judging panel, and was highly commended in the national stylist of the year category, which was won by Bathgate hairdresser Emma Smith.

Mr Pollock and his colleagues took the opportunity to attend their first live event since the start of the pandemic and were delighted that they were rewarded for their long journey to Glasgow.

“It means a lot to our small team to win these awards after what has been a very turbulent few years,” Mr Pollock said.

“We can’t thank all of our clients enough for there continued support and we look forward to continue creating fabulous hairstyles for them.”

The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards showcase Scotland’s best hair stylists, make-up artists, nail technicians, aesthetic clinics, hair and beauty teams and colour specialists with a range of national and regional awards.

Organisers were delighted with the response to the return of the live awards ceremony, which was attended by more than 450 hair and beauty professionals.

A spokesman for the awards said: “The hair and beauty sector plays a vital role in the country’s economy and enhances the local community by employing hundreds of staff.

“The awards showcased those who promote excellence, set the trends and turn any dream look into reality.

“These specialists inspire others when it comes to the big and competitive world of beauty.”
