A popular business that transformed a humble static caravan into a stylish takeaway serving restaurant quality street food is closing.

Forty2 has kept gym-goers and tradespeople in the Carse area of Inverness well-fed for the last couple of years.

There was dismay on social media as father and son owners Scott and Logan Maclean made the announcement, having previously invested a five-figure sum into the caravan conversion.

It operated beside The Forge Gym at Unit 1 Carsegate Road, launching in mid-November 2021.

Scott (45), who built a strong reputation for his culinary skills working from the age of 16 in local hotels and restaurants, devised an extensive menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner treats.

A social media post read: “It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of Forty2 after two incredible years.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every customer who supported us throughout our journey, it has meant the world to us.

“Whilst this decision wasn't easy, we cherish the memories and relationships built along the way.

“Thank you for being a part of our story and for making the past two years truly memorable.”

The reaction from past customers was one of disappointment.

Luke Johnstone was “gutted” adding: “The best food in Inverness.”

Jordan Bowie said: “Absolute legends! Best food and service out there. Will be truly missed.”

And Niall Gunn echoed many by adding: “Hope you guys pop up again, local.”

Owner Scott has been contacted for comment.
