An overnight power cut has hit rural residents in the Cannich area.

A large area west of Beauly and north and west of Cannich is affected, with the fault reported to SSEN at 3.46 am.

The power firm’s engineers arrived to begin work to fix the issue at 6.30 am and hope to have electricity fully restored by 10 am today

SSEN blamed a fault on the overhead network affecting 12 postcodes, but their power track site was unable to say how many customers were affected by the outage.
