Before distribution, fresh produce will also be collected to add to the donated food.

The goods will be sorted into hampers and delivered by HRC senior players to the elderly and homeless throughout Inverness in February in an initiative supported by the Salvation Army and Highland Food Bank. The club has provided a handy list of items that would help including rice, UHT milk, crackers and cereal.

It marks the beginning of several acts of kindness which will be carried out to help mark the club’s centenary.

HRC emphasised how helpful even a small donation could be, stating: “If we can get a couple of items donated from everyone involved with the club it could go a long way to making a difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our community.”

Donations can be handed in during the club’s training sessions. These are on Tuesdays (6.45pm-8.30pm), Wednesdays (7pm-8.30pm), Thursdays (6.45pm-8.30pm) and Sundays (10.30am-noon).
