The Nairn branch of the Royal British Legion marked the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

They raised a special flag at the club in Cawdor Road and planted a tree at the nearby war memorial.

Lt Col Bob Towns, president of the branch said: "The Lord-Lieutenant George Asher, Provost Laurie Fraser and the Rev Tommy Bryson joined us to mark the occasion.

"Rev Bryson led with prayers before the flag was raised by committee member Neil Simpson. Chairman, Jon Brookes led the three cheers for Her Majesty the Queen and this was followed by a tune from Pipe Major Richard Anderson."

The pipe major led the procession to the war memorial where the tree was dedicated by Rev Bryson. The Lord-Lieutenant placed a small plaque at the base of the tree to mark the occasion and addressed those in attendance.

The party then retired to the Royal British Legion for refreshments.
