Inverness Rowing Club has been given permission to build new welfare buildings, a boat store and a fenced secure external compound at its Torvean boat house.

The group had applied for planning permission to Highland Council and it has been decided that the proposal should be allowed.

Permission has been granted according to the information provided by the club in its application and is subject to a number of conditions.

The external colour finish of the storage containers, fabric roof and compound security fence and gates should be fir green and it should be completed within two months from the installation of the structures on the site.

In addition the developer should provide full written details of the foul drainage connection to shower facilities, including a timetable for its provision.

During and after the development the northern Caledonian Canal towpath should remain open, because it is a Core Path, and any disturbance or damage to it should be repaired to as good or better a standard within 14 days.

The developer will also need to complete landscaping work within the first available planting and seeding season after the start of the project.

The rowing club was founded 30 years ago and currently has around 50 active members between the ages of 12 and 76.
