Inverness Loch Ness Rotary Club members have made donations to local charities in lieu of their lunch cost while attending virtual meetings during lockdown.

This along with a grant from Rotary Foundation Emergency Fund made the donation of £1000 to Hoghland Foodbank possible.

James Campbell, chief executive of Blythswood which runs the food bank, said: “This is a very generous donation, and very helpful during the current coronavirus pandemic, when we have doubled the amount of food distributed compared to the same period a year ago.

“We’re coming across many more families around the Highlands who have needed our services after finding that 80 per cent furlough wages don’t stretch enough to put meals on the table.”
