ESSENTIAL roadworks are to cause the partial closure of the Kessock Bridge later this month.

Lighting on the bridge is to be upgraded, with the dual carriageway reduced to one lane in each direction while the work takes place.

Engineers will be on site carrying out the work for five nights from Monday, March 27. The road will be reduced to one lane each way from the Longman Roundabout to the junctions for North Kessock between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night.

Work is expected to conclude by the morning of Saturday, April 1, weather dependant.

Footpaths and cycleways will remain open at all times.

Bear Scotland’s representative for the north-west, Eddie Ross, said: “The lighting column works are necessary to ensure the safety of motorists when driving on the Kessock Bridge.

“It is essential for safety that we put single lane closures in place during these works, however we have scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are being encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website at www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and by allowing extra time for their journey.
