Motorists are being warned of planned road closures that will see diversions put in place on a minor road south of Inverness later next month.

Highland Council will close the B851 at Farr Playpark, Strathnairn, for part of Thursday April 13 and Friday April 14.

The closures, for essential resurfacing works and to ensure safe working, will remain in force between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day.

On the Wednesday prior to those closures, temporary traffic signals will be in operation as preparatory work is carried out, with “minimal delays” expected.

A local diversion for light vehicles only will be in place using the Brin - Dunlichity - Balnafoich road during these times.

The route is unsuitable for HGV traffic which will be signed and routed separately via the main B-road network.

Advance notification signs advising the public of this closure will be erected at the site and at remote junctions.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained, with pedestrians and cyclists managed through the works through the new shared-use path, under the contractor’s supervision.

Bus services will be managed through the works on April 12, but will be diverted April 13 and 14 during the closure times to avoid damage to the new surfacing material.

A Highland Council spokesman said: “We would like to thank communities in advance for their understanding during these essential works.”
