Emergency services are trying to determine the nature of the substance found between Inverness and Nairn.

Several fire units have been called out to the B9091 near Clephanton, with one of two units coming from Aberdeen containing equipment that could detect what the mystery substance is.

Units have also been deployed from Inverness and Elgin.

Four large bags containing a white powder were found lying on the road earlier this afternoon, with police alerting the fire service.

The powder is in four large clear plastic bags none of which display any symbols to indicate what the contents might be.
