Road between Inverness airport roundabout and Nairn is now clear following an early morning crash as police enquiries into the incident continue.

A male driver was taken to hospital as a precaution following the single vehicle crash on the A96 east was partially blocked near Gollanfield, about three miles from the airport turn off.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 6.10am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, police were called to a single vehicle road crash on the A96 eastbound between Inverness Airport roundabout and Nairn.

"The male driver of the car has been taken to hospital as a precaution. The road is now open and enquiries into the incident are continuing."

Earlier the police said on social media: "The A96 is currently partially blocked eastbound between Nairn and the Inverness Airport Roundabout. Officers are on scene and dealing with the incident.

"There has been a high volume of rain throughout the night. Please exercise caution on the roads."
