ELECTRICAL engineers have thanked Ness-side communities for their patience after an earlier power cut affected more than 100 customers this morning.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) engineers were scrambled shortly before 10.40am after a fault knocked off the power to 113 properties in almost a dozen postcodes south of Inverness.

"Engineers attended to find a tree branch had come in to contact with an overhead cable. The branch was safely removed and all supplies were restored by 12.10pm," said an SSEN spokesman.

"SSEN would like to thank its customers for their patience while work was carried out to safely restore their power."

The outage affected properties in 11 separate postcodes, most of which were in IV3 and centred around the Dochgarroch area.

The postcodes which were affected were:

  • IV1 2DL
  • IV2 6DN
  • IV2 6EL
  • IV3 5LE
  • IV3 8GY
  • IV3 8JG
  • IV3 8JP
  • IV3 8JX
  • IV3 8JY
  • IV3 8JZ
  • IV3 8LA
