The hallmark of many business calendars in the Highlands & Islands region returns to the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Tuesday November 15 having been postponed from its original date in September.

Along with event partners, SCDI, took the difficult decision to postpone the annual Business Excellence Awards following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, but have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the energy surrounding the event remains high and the rescheduled date will live up to expectations with Impressionist Rory Bremner reprising his role as host.

Grant Campbell, SCDI’s regional manager for the Highlands & Islands reflected on the decision to reschedule, saying: “It was a tough decision to reschedule the awards at such short notice, but everyone knew it was the right thing to do.

"We want to make sure we can celebrate the award finalists and winners properly, and with the sad passing of the Queen, it would not have been the right time to do so.

“Our team and event partners have all pulled together to establish the new date for November and we are extremely grateful to The Drumossie Hotel, Stage and Story and our host Rory Bremner who all have been brilliant in transferring their services and support in light of the circumstances.“

Awards finalists will no doubt be itching to get together and celebrate each other’s success stories. The awards have been curated to highlight the diverse nature of businesses in the region that often operate in remote areas. This year’s Awards will have eight categories:

  • Alvance aluminium award for outstanding business leader
  • Bakkafrost Scotland award for outstanding island business
  • Benromach award for excellence in international business
  • Crown Estate Scotland award for outstanding supporter of coastal communities
  • Highlands and Islands Enterprise award for excellence in fair work practices leading to workplace innovation
  • Loganair award for excellence in customer Service, care & experience
  • The Highland Council award for purposeful business
  • The Stromar award for excellence in natural capital, climate change and sustainable communities

With the Highlands & Islands Business Excellence Awards just around the corner, the SCDI team are putting the final touches on what promises to be a stellar event.
